A talk by Peter Rock, entitled  Urban Gulls: whatâ??s all the fuss about?

We all love the sounds of gulls at the seaside, but with numbers in town having increased dramatically and numbers of colonies more than doubled since the Seabird 2000 survey, the â??seagull issueâ?? is a different matter.

Urban gulls are hated by many and efforts to get rid of them range from the hopeless to the ridiculous. All of this has been costly and, needless to say, profitableâ?¦

What does the future hold? More urban gulls, of course! Now, hereâ??s a thing: whilst we know lots about the large gulls in the wild, we know so very little about them in town â?? and town gulls are very different from their wild cousins. In fact, we have two separate populations and that makes things more than a bit tricky. So, how can we manage the situation?
